So sue me… I’m a year late. I boasted LAST (that would be 2005 to those just tuning in) year that our ‘Patch’ family would do a retro Florida tour of all the bygone roadside attractions no true Floridians' life would be complete without seeing.

Keep in mind, I firmly believe in the cause… life just seems to get in the way. I'm convinced every childhood should be sprinkled with a bit of pixie dusted memories – Disney related or not. I had my very own flashback on the way to Silver Springs. Camera man! Fade that screen to black and white please…

You're traveling through another dimension -- a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That's a signpost up ahead: your next stop: the Twilight Zone!

Maybe not quite that far… but you’ve definetly traveled back to the 80’s (how many of us would love to do that??) where my dad and I have stopped at this oh so classic Florida tourist motel (I have a pic of it somewhere… one day I’ll dig it up and post). Well, dear readers, the affectionately remembered motel on the side of the road in nowhereville is still there.. In all its glory and kitchiness.

My point to this trip down old Florida lane (and the others we've planned) is a hope that the monsters we travel with (and torture with all these excruciating memory making excursions) will one day think back fondly to our weird outings and decide to take their own kids back for a kitch revival Florida tour. Every generation needs to have their own pixie dust pursuit.
