Save their tails!!!

I've been slacking - two weeks have passed since our PATCH family mermaid adventure. Dale busted me last night by saying we might as well just forgo this issue and post the girls weekend instead. So, head down, I humbly write this Birthday review of Weeki Wachee. Forgive me loyal readers.
In 1950's this was all the rage, I mean where else would you see the likes of underwater shows with mermaids!! Kitschy at best (although they wouldn't know it at the time) - this was considered ENTERTAINMENT!! That of course was BEFORE the big cheese came to town. Now-a-days, Save Our Tails is the motto at Weeki Wachee. And that's just what the PATCH family planned to do. A year late, but better than before they close, we braved the trip (not even as far as we thought it would be!!) down to Weeki Wachee. Van load full of mermaid curiosity seekers, we were not even remotely prepared for the reality of this park.
I said I wanted kitschy - and well, that's what we got. Fiberglass photo-ops that had completely seen better days, a river boat ride that showed nothing (although Dale did sneak in a talk with the Captain and got Brian a 'Happy Birthday' song), and a water park with a NOT-SO-LAZY river. But honestly, this park is just reeking in extraordinary enchantment - mermaids - it's what every princess or pirate dreams of.
We managed to get there late (a whole other story in itself), and STILL had time to do the entire park, water park & see the mermaid show. The water in this river is enough to make the trip down worthwhile, it was so clean and cold - just amazing! I don't regret the trip; the nostalgia is obviously what brings people to this park. The quant little day trips that we fondly remember from our past - will hopefully keep the next generation hunting for mermaids.

Remember -

Save their Tales!
